Leader of the Pack

Curious.

We live in a society where it is not acceptable to be fat, although it is acceptable to constantly say you wish you could lose weight and always talk about being on a diet.

It is not acceptable to be poor, although it is acceptable to talk about how you don’t make enough money and wish you could get a job that would pay more.

It’s acceptable to be rich, but you can’t talk about it. That’s bragging.

It’s acceptable to be thin, but you can’t talk about that either. See above.

The collective thought is we should all be financially fat and physically thin; the collective intention is to only include us while we’re in the wanting, in the struggling, in the not having. If you achieve you’re out of the pack.

We’re allowed to commiserate with the lovable losers, to listen to the naysayers, the Negative Nellies, the relatives, friends and acquaintances who tell you how you can’t how you won’t why you’ll never.

Why do you think that people who talk about their own success are bragging? Why do you assign shame to their actions – when you want what they have?

By placing a negative label on them you’re pushing those results away from yourself! You think you want that thing and can’t understand why it doesn’t just appear for you – the way it does for other people. Yet underneath it all you believe, “If I have that thing I’ll be (bad, greedy, bragging) too. If I have it I’ll be out of the pack!” Who would intentionally want that?

Smart Girl, what have I told you about wants vs. intentions? If you haven’t already, read https://lenaehrenberg.com/2019/06/26/make-it-happen/

Take a moment and think consciously about the effects of only listening to people talk about what they don’t have. Ask yourself if that’s what you really, really want.
