Lesson Learned

How do you learn? What does it take for you to change, to grow?

One thing I’ve learned is that I’ve never learned anything in a yearlong program. Or in a semester-long class. I haven’t learned in a one-day workshop or a weekend intensive, no matter how intensive it was.

Those are some of the places I’ve been taught, but the learning started when I put the lessons into practice.

I must apply the teaching in order to learn the lesson.

Especially when it’s involved learning about myself – my habits my patterns and my limiting beliefs. Learning about who I am in the world and how I am in my life and how it all relates to my values and beliefs and my interactions with other people.

This is why you’ve listened to so many podcasts and haven’t changed your results.

This is why you’ve read so many books and haven’t changed your results.

This is why you’ve spent so many weekend hours with hundreds of other people in hotel ballrooms and watched other people have ‘breakthroughs’ and you haven’t changed your results.

This is why personal coaching is invaluable to personal growth. So that you practice, with a guide who keeps you in form, with consistency, what you’ve been taught.

Next time you’re tempted to read another book or sign up for another weekend seminar think about all the hours you’ve already invested in doing those things.

Isn’t it time to put your time to better use?

Isn’t it time to create the positive results you envision for yourself?
